California has the worst air quality in the nation, and more than half of our state's global warming pollution comes from cars, trucks and the fuel they burn.

Lawmakers in Sacramento are now making the final decision on clean air programs. Tell your state legislators to support funding for projects that will clean up our air today.

Subject: Invest in clean air: Help us charge ahead to an electric vehicle future

Your Letter:

Thank you for this year's record budget commitment for zero emission vehicles. As a Californian, I'm deeply concerned about the air I'm breathing. Our state is home to some of the worst air pollution in the nation, and transportation pollution is California's largest driver of climate change.

We also lead the nation in electric vehicle adoption thanks to effective incentive programs. Now those incentive programs are running out of funding.

As you finalize the budget, please prioritize investments in clean air and clean transportation that will:

* Get the dirtiest cars off the road and ensure all families have access to clean cars by fully funding projects like the Clean Cars 4 All program and the Clean Vehicle Assistance Program. These are programs that make it affordable and convenient for low-income residents statewide to make the switch to cleaner vehicles.

* Ensure half of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure funds across the state are invested in communities with the greatest need, so that families that live near freeways, ports and freight-hubs benefit from this clean technology too.

* Fully fund programs that are delivering the biggest pollution reductions, including clean trucks, transit buses and school bus fleets.

With California's unprecedented budget surplus this year, the time to act is now.

Californians have been living with dangerous air pollution for too long, and we may never have a better opportunity to take key steps toward a clean energy future for all. It's time for California to invest in clean air and a healthy climate!
